Adolph and Helen Gusa Brutke were married on October 26, 1912.
They knew each other in the "old country" of Russia before they immigrated to America in 1910 and 1911.
The Brutke family helped sponsor the Gusa family, and also encouraged them to make the big step of pulling up roots and traveling far away to a new country with new customs and a new language.
I think their parents were very brave, and had a lot of courage!
This photo was taken in a studio in Taylor, Texas where the happy couple were married.
Helen sewed her lovely wedding dress. Unfortunately it was loaned to a sister in law and never returned, so I don't know what became of it.

I already had a paper copy in the binder which my aunt Pat Brutke put together in the early 1990's.
I have a subscription to FMP and it's a wonderful and fantastic site well worth the price!
Recently they added over 100 million documents for marriages.
Today I thought I'd check them out, and so I'm finding and saving the marriage certificates for Adolph's siblings as they were all married in America. Adolph was the first member in his family to get married in America.
They were married by Louis Vogt, Pastor of the German Baptist Church in what looks to be Brenham, Texas but I can't quite make out the writing.
